Hawaiʻi County Lane Closures: Week of January 1

The Department of Transportation announced a number of Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of January 1, 2024. There will be no lane closures on Monday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day. The Highway 130 contraflow will not be operational on Monday. Lane closure schedules may change without notice at any time. All projects are weather permitting.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 66 to 69, in the vicinity of Kauila Road and South Point Road, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

PAPAIKOU TO PEPEEKEO

Roving single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6 and 9, vicinity of Kapue Street and Onohi Loop, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.

HONOMU TO HAKALAU

Roving single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 12 and 18, vicinity of Pepeekeo Mill and Honohina Cemetery, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for guardrail clearing and cutting.

LAUPAHOEHOE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 23 and 28, in the vicinity of Kapehu Road and Stevens Road, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installation of reflective markers.

 

QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) 

KAILUA-KONA

Roving single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 93 and 99.5, in the vicinity of the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole and Palani Road, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for drain inspection and cleaning.

 

KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) 

HAWAIIAN PARADISE PARK

Roving single lane closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 4 and 7, vicinity of the Keaau Transfer Station and Makuu Drive, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

KEAAU TO PAHOA

Roving shoulder closure on Keaau-Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 4 and 10, vicinity of the Keaau Transfer Station to vicinity of Keonepoko water spigot, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for guardrail clearing and cleaning.

 

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

KALAOA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 16.92 and 26.02, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installation of reflective markers.

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

KAMUELA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder.
