A number of brush fires were reported along Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway in Kailua-Kona yesterday morning.
Motorists helped extinguish the fires before police and fire personnel arrived and put out the remaining hotspots.
No injuries or property damage occurred, and nearby businesses/residences were not threatened.
The cause is undetermined but considered suspicious. Police are on high alert due to a red flag warning from the National Weather Service.
