Greenwell Park Playground Project Begins Next Week

A project to redevelop the playground at Arthur L. Greenwell Park in Captain Cook is scheduled to begin next Monday, Aug. 25.

The project, which is anticipated to take approximately five months to complete and will result in a playground that meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, will involve removing the existing playground equipment and installing new equipment, a synthetic turf safety surfacing system, and reconfigured accessible walkways.

The redesigned playground will feature climbing structures, a basket swing, and benches similar to those found at Kamehameha Park and the Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area.

During construction, the playground area will be closed.
