Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of July 7

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of July 7 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

KANOELEHUA AVENUE (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO

Pocket closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) in both directions between mile post 3.1 to 3.2, in the vicinity of Waianuhea Place, on Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for turn pocket maintenance.

 

HILO

Left pocket closure on Kanoelehua Avenue (Route 11) in the southbound direction between mile post 3.8 to 3.9, in the vicinity of Kilauea Avenue and Lama Street, on Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for turn pocket maintenance.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 19 to 20, in the vicinity of North Glenwood Road, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

HILO

Roving lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27.3 to 30.9, in the vicinity of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Mauna Loa Road, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for HELCO installing a new pole and wires.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

  

PAHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 50 to 52, in the vicinity of Maile Street, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HONAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97 and 104, vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for safety improvements.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 107 to 109.5, in the vicinity of Rabbit Hill Road and Greenwell Park, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass and shoulder work.

  

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

PAPAIKOU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 7.5 to 7.9, in the vicinity of Kalaoa Camp Road and Puu Moi Road, on Tuesday, July 8 to Thursday, July 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for maintenance of the Kalaoa Bridge.

HONOKAA

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 43 to 44, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching and shoulder work.

 MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) 

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, in the vicinity of Saddle Road on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

 KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250)

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 8 to 9.5, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

 

HAWI ROAD (ROUTE 250) 

HAWI

Single lane closure on Hawi Road (Route 250) possible in either direction at mile post 19.2, in the vicinity of Old Millstack Road on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installing new raised pavement markers.
