Kalapana Man Charged With Criminal Property Damage and Other Offenses

40 year-old Joseph Williams aka Clarence Clayton Williams of Kalapana was arrested and charged with criminal property damage, terroristic threatening, burglary, assault, and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle offenses related to an incident that occurred at a Kalapana residence.

Williams recently made his initial appearance in Hilo District Court where his bail was maintained at $96,000.00 and he was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing today.

As the Complaint alleges, Williams is charged with Criminal Property Damage in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree, Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, and Assault in the Third Degree. The most serious offenses, Criminal Property Damage in the First Degree and Burglary in the First Degree, are both class B felony offenses and carry a penalty of either a ten-year prison term or four years probation and up to eighteen months in jail.

The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Andrew Son and Lucas Burns.
