Detectives with Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area II Criminal Investigation Section arrested and charged two men who were wanted for outstanding bench warrants during separate incidents in the Ocean View area.
Twenty-nine year old Andrew Amon of Ocean View, was arrested at a Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Subdivision residence on Sunday, April 13.
After conferring with the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office, Amon was charged with the following offenses:
- First-degree theft (automobile)
- Unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle
- Second-degree assault
- Abuse of a family/household member
- Three counts of third-degree assault
- Second-degree criminal property damage
- Two counts of fourth-degree criminal property damage
- Habitual property crime
- Violation of terms and condition of probation
- Contempt of court
His total bail was set at $116,100.
Amon is also a suspect in a separate theft investigation which will be sent to the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office to be reviewed.
23-year-old Kaleo Mello of Nā‘ālehu was arrested on Monday April 14 after HPD issued a media release asking for assistance in locating him. He was wanted on two warrants and considered armed and dangerous. Based on tips provided to police, detectives located and arrested Mello at a residence in the Green Sands subdivision in Nā‘ālehu. He was charged with:
- First degree burglary
- Second-degree theft
- Unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle
Mello’s total bail was set at $3,000.
