The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of March 23, 2026. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE/VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11)
HILO TO VOLCANO
Single lane closure on Kamehameha Avenue to Volcano Road (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 36, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25 and Friday, March 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.
MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 49 to 53, on Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mechanical mowing.
NAALEHU
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 65 to 66, in the vicinity of Kaalualu Waiohinu Road to Kono Hiki Street on Tuesday, March 24 to Friday, March 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for resurfacing the road. Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 88 to 92, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway and Yee Hop Ranch Road, on Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and mechanical mowing.
KEALAKEKUA TO HOLUALOA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 109 to 118, in the vicinity of Koa Road and Judd Trail, on Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25 and Friday, March 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installing new striping and pavement markers.
CAPTAIN COOK
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction between mile post 110.5 and 110.7, in the vicinity of Saint Johns Road and Meleana Place, on Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25 and Friday March 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for Department of Water Supply to install a new meter and waterline.
KEALAKEKUA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11), possible in either direction near mile post 111, in the vicinity of Konawaena School Road, Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25 and Friday, March 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for Department of Water Supply to install a new meter and waterline.
