Hawaiʻi Island Lane Closures: Week of October 13

The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of October 13, 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.  All projects are weather permitting.

 

VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11) 

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 15 to 17, in the vicinity of North Kopua Road, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching, mowing, and shoulder work.

 

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27.5 to 28.5, in the vicinity of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Old Volcano Road, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for HELCO installing new powerline poles.

VOLCANO

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 28.3 to 28.4, in the vicinity of Crater Rim Drive, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for maintenance on rumble strips.

 

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) 

 

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 60 to 71, in the vicinity of Kahuku Ranch Road, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.

NAALEHU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 66 to 67, in the vicinity of Kamikina Street on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

PAPA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 85 to 96, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway and Kaohe Road, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping, and pavement markers.

PAPA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 94 to 96, in the vicinity of Kaohe Road, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

 

 HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) 

 

 

HILO TO PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 5 to 10, in the vicinity of Kahoa Place and Kulala Street, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting trees and shoulder work.

PEPEEKEO

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 8 to 10, in the vicinity of Indian Tree Road, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

HAKALAU

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 15.1 to 15.6, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, on Monday, October 13 and Friday, October 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of construction signs for work on Hakalau Bridge. KAWAIHAE ROAD (ROUTE 19)

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 58 to 60, in the vicinity of Ko Uka Street and Ohina Street, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

KAWAIHAE

Single lane closure on Kawaihae Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 63 to 67, in the vicinity of Waiula Drive, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000) 

HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, October 13 to Friday, October 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping, installing new raised pavement markers and traffic signal loops.
