The Department of Transportation announced the following Hawaiʻi Island lane closures during the week of August 25 2025. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
VOLCANO ROAD (ROUTE 11)
KURTISTOWN
Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 9 to 11, in the vicinity of North Road and Ala Road, on Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching, cutting grass, and shoulder work.
VOLCANO
Roving lane closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 27.5 to 28, in the vicinity of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, on Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for HELCO to install new powerline poles.
VOLCANO
Shoulder closure on Volcano Road (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 30 to 31, at the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Monday, August 25 through Friday, August 29 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for paving. Mauna Loa Road will be used as an exit for the park during this closure.
MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)
PAHALA
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 53 to 55, on Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.
NAALEHU
Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 60 to 69, on Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.
KALANIANAOLE STREET (ROUTE 19)
KEAUKAHA
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction at mile post 0, in the vicinity of Kuhio Street, on Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal and installation of new curbs near the Keaukaha General Store.
HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)
HONOMU
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 12 and 13.5, in the vicinity of Cane Road and Honomu Road, on Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for mulching, cutting trees and shoulder work.
HAKALAU
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 15 and 17, in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, on Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 15 to 17, in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, Monday, August 25 to Friday, August 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cutting grass.

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 30 to 30.5, in the vicinity of Kaula bridge, Tuesday, August 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge maintenance.
PAAUILO
Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 33.2 to 33.5, in the vicinity of Mohuna bridge, Tuesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge maintenance.
QUEEN KAAHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19)

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 69.2 to 69.5, in the vicinity of the Keakealani Subdivision Road bridge, on Monday, August 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge maintenance.
