Puna Man Arrested and Charged for Possession and Attempted Distribution of Meth

52 year-old Davin Antonio of Puna was arrested and charged after VICE-East officers executed narcotics search warrants upon an Ainaloa residence and a Toyota 4Runner.

According to police, officers recovered a combined total of 473.84 grams or 1.04 pounds of a substance that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine, five digital scales, clean and unused zip lock-type packets, ammunition, and over $4,000.00 in U.S. currency.

On Wednesday, Antonio made his initial appearance in Hilo District Court where his bail was maintained at $343,000.00 and he was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing today.

As the Complaint alleges, Antonio is charged with Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (possess one ounce or more of methamphetamine), Attempted Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree (attempted distribution of methamphetamine of an aggregate weight of one-eighth ounce or more), Promoting a Harmful Drug in the Fourth Degree, two counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree (possess any amount of methamphetamine), and two counts of Ownership, Possession, or Control of Ammunition Prohibited. Both Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree and Attempted Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the First Degree are class A felony offenses and carry a penalty of either a twenty-year prison term or ten years probation and up to two years in jail.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Andrew Son and Elyssa Correia Keltner.
