Tree Trimming Scheduled for Liliʻuokalani Gardens

Tree trimming and removal work at Liliʻuokalani Gardens in Hilo will begin tomorrow.

The work, which will be conducted by contractor Backyard Monkey, LLC, is aimed at enhancing public safety by addressing trees that pose immediate risks and require removal or significant canopy reduction.

To accommodate the work, the one-way portion of Lihiwai Street will be closed (between Keliipio Place and the entrance to Isles) Tuesday, July 8 through Thursday, July 10 from 6 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. daily. Walking areas adjacent to this section of Lihiwai Street will also be closed while the work is occurring. Access to Moku Ola (Coconut Island) and Isles will remain open.

Upon completion of the tree work, the project will transition to the interior areas of the park. Safety zones will be established using signage and barricades in the areas where the work is occurring.

Park visitors are asked to exercise caution during this maintenance project and follow all posted safety warnings and closures.
