Hawaiʻi County D.U.I. Statistics: June 23-29

During the week of June 23 through June 29, 2025, Hawai‘i Island police arrested 11 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Three of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash, while one of the drivers was under the age of 21.

So far in 2025, there have been 460 DUI arrests compared with 481 during the same period last year, a decrease of 4.5 percent.

The Hawai‘i County Police Department’s Traffic Services Section reviewed all updated crashes and found 421 major crashes thus far in 2025, compared with 494 major crashes during the same time in 2024, an increase of 5.46 percent.

To date, there have been 13 fatal crashes, resulting in 14 fatalities compared with 17 fatal crashes, resulting in 19 fatalities for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 23.53 percent for fatal crashes and 26.32 percent for fatalities.
