Coast Guard Suspends Search for Woman in Water off Oʻahu

The Coast Guard suspended its search for 21 year-old  Khilye Hamadani, who went missing off the coast of Oʻahu last week.

Hamadani was last seen at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on Monday, June 2.

Search efforts began after Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders received a report Tuesday from Honolulu County Fire Department dispatchers regarding a missing person.

Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Station Honolulu 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an Air Station Barbers Point HC-130 Hercules airplane crew. Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Gerczak (WPC 1126) was also launched for the search.

In total, Coast Guard and partner agency crews searched 1200 square miles for over 100 combined hours.
