31 year-old Solomon Lord of Puna was arrested and charged following a recent execution of a search warrant upon a Lalakea Street residence.
According to police, officers recovered an unserialized FM Products 9mm assault pistol with a nine-inch barrel, an unserialized 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a loaded highcapacity magazine, an unserialized 5.56 caliber rifle, loaded Marlin brand lever action 30-30 caliber rifle, and a loaded Savage model 10 .308 caliber bolt action rifle.
On Monday, Lord made his initial Hilo District Court appearance where his bail was maintained at $484,000.00 and he was ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on April 23.
As the Complaint alleges, Lord is charged with 18 offenses including ten counts of Ownership or Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Prohibited, two counts of Ownership Prohibited (high capacity detachable magazine), three counts of Manufacturing, Purchasing, or Obtaining Firearm Parts to Assemble a Firearm Having No Serial Number, and a single count each of Ownership Prohibited (assault pistol), misdemeanor Abuse of a Family or Household Member, and Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree. The most serious offense, Ownership or Possession Prohibited, is a class B felony offense and carries a maximum penalty of a ten-year prison term. If convicted as charged, Prosecutors have provided notice that Lord is subject to a mandatory prison term and will not be eligible for probation.
The charges are merely allegations, and the Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys Kevin Soong and Woodrow Pengelly.
