HONOLULU (AP) _ Congress has approved 372 (m) million dollars in defense spending for Hawaii projects.
The Senate voted 100 to zero this morning to pass the measure. The House had approved the measure on Tuesday by a vote of 394 to 22.
The bill totals 448 (b) billion dollars and is now on its way to the White House for President Bush's signature.
Approval by a comfortable margin came despite intense partisan divisions over the course of the Iraq war, which is costing about eight (b) billion dollars a month. Another infusion of money will be needed next spring.
