HONOLULU (AP) _ Hawaiian Airlines claims that the new interisland carrier go! is using low ticket fares to try and bankrupt one of Hawaii's existing airlines.
Hawaiian attorney Bruce Bennett accused go! and its parent company, Mesa Air Group, of attempting to reduce competition by targeting Aloha Airlines as it was emerging from bankruptcy protection last year.
Bennett said in bankruptcy court yesterday that e-mails uncovered during legal procedures show that Mesa plans to put Aloha out of business.
Bankruptcy Judge Robert Faris is considering the matter.
Bennett says the e-mails show that Mesa acknowledged it could only succeed in Hawaii if Aloha went out of business.
Aloha said in a statement that Mesa is trying to unbalance the playing field at the expense of Hawaii consumers.
