New management to revive struggling Hawaii Air Ambulance

By Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) _ The struggling Hawaii Air Ambulance has new management.

Joseph Hunt was named president of the company, which in March had its second fatal accident in a little more than two years and provides the critical service of airlifting patients to Honolulu.

Hunt has been serving as president of Eagle Air Med, which operates six aircraft in Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.

Andrew Kluger, chairman of Hawaii Air Ambulance, says Hunt will not only strengthen the company, but continue to provide the highest level of quality care to Hawaii's people.

Joining Hunt are two vice presidents, James Hunt and Cheryl Bowers.

Hawaii Air Ambulance has suffered since one of its aircraft crashed March 8 in a parking lot on Maui, killing the pilot and two medical staffers.

The plane was a replacement aircraft for another Hawaii Air Ambulance plane that crashed on the Big Island in 2004, also killing three people.
