USS Hawaii to arrive in one year

HONOLULU (AP) _ Construction on the new U-S-S Hawaii is 90 percent complete, and it is expected to be commissioned next year.
The nuclear-powered U-S-S Hawaii will be based at Pearl Harbor to help fill the void left by the U-S-S Honolulu, which is leaving for its final deployment next month.
The two-point-four (b) billion dollar U-S-S Hawaii will be the third of the Navy's new Virginia-class submarines.
It will be used to patrol the Pacific with a greater ability to deliver commandos close to shore and quietly counter the threat of noisy diesel-powered submarines from other countries.
Navy Commander David Solms says he'd happily take the U-S-S Hawaii against any other country's diesel-powered subs.
