HONOLULU (AP) _ The buyer of K-H-O-N says it does not plan to cut any on-air talent in its recently announced layoffs.
Sandy Benton, chief operating officer of S-J-L Broadcast, says most of the cuts will be in the Fox affiliate's production and technical operations.
K-H-O-N announced Thursday that 35 of its 112 employees would be cut after S-J-L acquires the station from Emmis Communications, which also owns K-G-M-B in Honolulu.
K-H-O-N's news broadcast with anchor Joe Moore has led Hawaii's television news rating for years.
Moore, who is under contract to 2009, expressed concerns about how the cuts will affect news operations.
The newsman says he's concerned about his colleagues and the ability to continue to provide the same quality.
