Major conference wraps up in Waikiki

HONOLULU (AP) _ A six-day international conference that brought more than eleven-thousand scientists from 70 countries to Honolulu will conclude tomorrow.
One of the highlights of the International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies was a presentation by renowned Japanese scientist Sumio Iijima.
The 200 sessions at the conference were scattered across eight Waikiki hotels and was hosted by the Chemical Society of Japan.
Founded in 1984, these conferences have been held in Honolulu around every five years.
The conference's goal is to promote collaborations among Pacific Basin chemical scientists that improve the quality of life throughout the world. It features a program highlighting such recent research contributions.
