KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) _ A 16-year-old Big Island girl was charged with second-degree murder today for the stabbing death of a four-month-old baby boy.
The names of the victim and suspect haven't been released. And police haven't said if the two were related.
Unidentified sources told K-I-T-V the girl was the child's mother and identified the boy as Sebastian Kossak.
Police Captain Robert Hickcox says the girl was taken to Family Court, which ordered her to remain in custody until her next court appearance.
The girl was arrested at a Kalaoa residence after an emergency 9-1-1 call last night reported an infant had been stabbed in the Kona Highlands subdivision.
Hickcox says that upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of the infant and took the girl into custody.
