HONOLULU (AP) _ Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have approved a measure that will provide federal funding for three water projects in Hawaii.
The Hawaii Water Resources Act of 2005 now goes to President Bush, who is expected to sign the bill into law.
Hawaii Congressman Neil Abercrombie says the measure will provide money for projects that are expected to meet the state's growing water needs.
Abercrombie says the new law will authorize federal funding to cover up to 25 percent of the design, planning and construction costs of the projects.
The projects include: a seawater desalination and distribution facility on Oahu, a recycled water distribution system expansion project on Maui and a wastewater treatment project on the Big Island.
