Navy ship to go to Hilo for annual hula festival

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (AP) The Navy is sending the U-S-S Ruben James to Hilo this week for the Merrie Monarch Festival. The Navy has been sending ships to the annual Hawaiian culture and hula festival since 1964. The crew of the Ruben James will attend this week's festivities, including the hula competitions. On Friday, the festival's Royal Court will welcome the crew in a ceremony that will feature dancers and the King and the Queen of the Royal Court. (Copyright 2005 Associated Press.
