Hawaii surfer makes sport's hall of fame at age 21

By Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) A Hawaii surfer has made the sport's hall of fame at 21 years old, after just two world championships.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Friday that Even Carissa Moore says when she got inducted she thought: "Isn't this kind of soon?"

The surfer who turns 22 in August plans has a busy month and a half before her birthday, including the hall induction. She'll also defend her U.S. Open Championship of Surfing title, release a single and attend the ESPY awards as a finalist for best female action sports athlete.

Moore has won the U.S. Open twice and has won two of five Association of Surfing Professionals women's events this year. She leads the standings in points and earnings with $172,250.

Moore has 11 world tour wins since 2008.
