NCAA to interview Hawaii coaches on investigation

By Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) Hawaii athletics officials say an NCAA investigator plans to interview head basketball coach Gib Arnold and two assistant coaches for its ongoing investigation of potential rules violations.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that a representative from the NCAA Enforcement Division is arriving in Honolulu Tuesday to speak with Arnold and assistants Brandyn Akana and Benjy Taylor.

Hawaii Athletics Director Ben Jay says the NCAA is doing final interviews but declined to give details.

The NCAA has been investigating Hawaii basketball after the school self-reported a form was altered that was used to admit an athlete. The school suspended Akana for 30 days, missing 12 of the team's last 14 games.

The school hasn't given a reason for the suspension but has said it will cooperate fully with the investigation.
