More Hawaii players drafted

By 67AM KPUA News

Saturdays third day of Major League Baseballs First-Year Playe Draft turned out to be a good one for players with Hawai`i ties.

Recent St. Louis graduate Jordan Yamamoto was selected in the 12th round by the same Milwaukee Brewers team that chose Waiakea left handed pitcher Kodi Medeiros with the 12th overall pick in Thursdays opening round. The 2014 ILH Player of the Year saw his stock rise when he threw a two hit 2-0 shutout against Medeiros team in the recent state tournament.

Hilo's Jodd Carter became the third player selected straight out of a local high school when the Indians took him No. 728 overall in the 24th round. And Punahou's K.J. Harrison, the No. 2 high school prospect from Hawaii entering the draft, was selected by the Indians in the 25th round (No. 758 overall). Current UH pitchers Scott Squier and Matt Cooper and first baseman Marc Flores were also drafted.
