Hee to run for Lt. Governor

By 67AM KPUA News

State Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Clayton Hee has announced hell enter the race for Lieutenant Governor. The O`ahu Democrat announced during a Sunday press conference at Iolani Palace that he would challenge incumbent Shan Tsutsui for the position that he was appointed to after Brian Schatz was selected to replace the late U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye.

The 61-year-old Hee said he conducted research and polling that indicated that he could "be successful" if he ran for lieutenant governor. Hee made no endorsement in the race for governor, where incumbent Neil Abercrombie is being challenged by State Senator David Ige in the primary. Hee however, gave the nod to former Republican State Representative Gil Riviere in the race to replace him in the Senate.
