Alaska Airlines flight forced to land in San Jose

By Associated Press

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Officials say a Honolulu-bound Alaska Airlines flight was forced to return to San Jose, Calif., after a power problem.

Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Bobbie Egan says Flight 837 touched down safely at Mineta San Jose International Airport around 9:40 yesterday morning, a little less than two hours after it took off. It was able to taxi to a gate under its own power.

There were no reports of injuries. Egan says the flight was carrying 132 passengers and six crew members, who will be put on another plane slated to leave San Jose at 10:45 a.m.

She says the power problem was temporary and affected a redundant navigation system, but the captain decided to turn around anyway out of an abundance of caution.
