Governor releases money for Hilo Harbor mooring buoys

By Associated Press

HONOLULU Governor Neil Abercrombie today announced the release of more than $18.7 million in capital improvement project (CIP) and grant funds for priority repairs and improvements at state facilities and public schools.

The largest appropriation is $9.9 million for construction of a new gymnasium/auditorium building for Kauai High School. An additional $180,000 is earmarked for installation of a new photovoltaic
system for the garden isles Ke Kula Niihau O Kekaha Charter School.

$2.6 million is included for wages and fringe benefits for Department of Land and Natural Resources project-funded positions for the 2014 fiscal year. The lone Big Island appropriation is $300,000 to install five-day use mooring buoys as mitigation
measures to meet permit requirements for dredging Hilo Harbor.
