Verdict expected in Pittsburgh professor's murder

By Associated Press

HONOLULU (AP) A Hawaii judge is expected to deliver a verdict in the murder trial of man accused of killing a visiting University of Pittsburgh professor.

Robert Henderson found dead in a Waikiki apartment in 1996.

Jason Lee McCormick is charged with murdering the 51-year-old professor, who was a guest lecturer at the University of Hawaii. His nude, decomposed body was found in his condo five days after he was last seen leaving campus. The medical examiner's office says Henderson was hanged or strangled.

McCormick has told mental health examiners that Henderson's interest in boys and sexual advances while they had drinks in the condo caused him to snap. McCormick was found mentally fit to stand trial.

The judge's verdict is expected Wednesday.
