By Ken Hupp - 67AM KPUA News

Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who died early Wednesday from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle/pedestrian crash on Highway 11 in Glenwood. Puna patrol officers say a 55-year old Hilo man was heading south in his Toyota pickup truck around 3:00 a.m. when he struck the victim while walking on the roadway near the 18-mile marker. The man was taken by Fire Rescue personnel to Hilo Medical Center
where he died shortly before 4:30 a.m. and became the islandís 12th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 11 a year ago. Police say they do not suspect that speed, alcohol or drugs were involved.
The victim, who had no identification, is described as a Caucasian male, late 20ís to early 30ís, 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, with long black hair, a beard and mustache. If you have any information on the victimís identity, call Officer Tuckloy Aurello at 961-8119 or the Police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
