Film project focuses on stories behind debris

By Associated Press

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Filmmakers are working to find — and tell — the stories behind some of the items that have washed ashore following the deadly 2011 tsunami in Japan.

Co-director John Choi says "Lost and Found" aims to reunite items discovered by people who feel compelled to learn more about them, and return them to their owners.

A trailer for the film features two men affected by the items they've found. One found a volleyball on a beach in Washington state, the other, part of a boat during an expedition that sailed from Japan to Hawaii.

Neither of the items has been linked to their original owners yet.

Work on the film continues. Choi hopes it will be released in time for the third anniversary of the disaster next March.
