Texas fugitive arrested on the Big Island
|

HILO, Hawaii (AP) — A fugitive from Texas has been arrested on the Big Island.
The U.S. Marshal's Service for Hawaii says 19-year-old Samuel Lawrence Adkins was apprehended by the Hawaii Fugitive Task Force at a rental home in Keaau. He reportedly was caught after running from the rear of the home.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Adkins was wanted on an arrest warrant issued in Texas charging him with first-degree aggravated sexual assault. He is accused in an attack that authorities say took place in Austin on July 30.
Adkins is being held at the Hawaii County Correction Center in Hilo where he awaits an extradition hearing back to Texas. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
