HILO, Hawaii (AP) — Big Island police arrested two people and dismantled what they say was a sophisticated underground bunker for growing marijuana in Puna.
According to police, the Glenwood bunker measured approximately 40 feet by 80 feet, and had two large diesel generators to power fans and lights. Police say it contained more than 500 marijuana plants.
Police say they seized other items as well, including $4,000 in cash, a backhoe and other items worth more than $100,000.
Police arrested and charged 60-year-old Charles Howard Lanhan III and 67-year-old Linda Stallings with commercial promotion of a detrimental drug. Both posted bail and were released on Friday afternoon.
