Kona man charged in February 17th robbery in Kailua

A Kona man has been charged with kidnapping and other offenses in the February 17th robbery at a Lamaokeola Street apartment in Kailua-Kona. Police say a 37-year old man had been visiting with a 36-year old male friend when a male acquaintance and another man brandishing a handgun and machete assaulted the pair, demanded money and marijuana and fled after taking the occupant’s wallet and 10 grams of marijuana. Police last Wednesday arrested 25-year old Ahililani Stringert on an unrelated vehicle theft charge then charged him with kidnapping, theft and multiple counts of assault, robbery, terroristic threatening and a firearms offense.
