Kona Police investigating infant death

Police are investigating the Monday morning death of a 2-month old Kona infant. Officers responding to a 5:44 a.m. call arrived at the home in the 74-4000 block of of Māmalahoa Highway in Hōlualoa where the mother said she found her daughter in bed unresponsive and tried to revive her. Fire rescue personnel continued the efforts and took the baby to Kona Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6:22 a.m. Police do not suspect foul play, and have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
