Preliminary hearing today for double murder suspect

A preliminary hearing will be held this afternoon for the man charged with last week’s fatal shooting of two women at their Leilani Street home in Hilo. 34-year old Sean Ivan Masa Matsumoto of Hilo has been charged with first degree murder, two counts of second degree murder, reckless endangering and multiple firearms offenses in the death of his 45-year old girlfriend Rhonda Lynn Alohalani Ahu and her 74-year old mother Elaine Ahu. Matsumoto is facing life in prison without parole if found guilty.
