Ground broken for Hilo cargo facility

Construction is expected to be completed this year on a new $14 million, 63,000 square-foot cargo building and light industrial facility at Hilo International Airport. Ground was broken on Tuesday for the project which will also include office space for the State Department of Agriculture and agencies that oversee freight activities. Governor Neil Abercrombie says the facility will put skilled craftsmen and women to work during construction then serve the needs of the community for many years in the future following its completion.
