KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) — A Hawaii company that ships cargo between the islands has issued its year-end results.
West Hawaii Today reports that Young Brothers Ltd. on the Big Island says there was a nominal increase in cargo volume to the neighbor islands last year. But the company says there was a steady rise in the shipment of agricultural products.
The company says the volume of agricultural products moved across the state was up 11.6 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year. Roy Catalani, Young Brother's vice president of strategic planning and government relations, attributes the increase possibly to a renewed interest in buying locally-grown products.
The company says cargo volumes were up only 0.4 percent in 2012.
