A 23-year old Kailua-Kona man has been charged with two counts of first degree terroristic threatening for sending messages that resulted in Monday’s lockdown of four Hawai`i Island schools. Lyle Kawika Pascubillo was arrested after a 25-year old Honoka`a woman reported receiving numerous telephone calls and text messages from
an unknown source that made reference to the threat of violent actions taking place at Honoka`a School and Waimea Elementary School. Both schools were locked down as a precaution as were Honoka`a High and Intermediate and Waimea Middle School.
Police were able to trace the calls and messages to a residence in Kailua-Kona, where Pascubillo was taken into custody. School officials were notified of his arrest and ended the lockdowns some three hours after they began.
