HONOLULU (AP) — Governor Neil Abercrombie has raised more than $2 million total for his re-election bid in 2014. The Democratic Governor's latest campaign spending report shows he has about $1.4 million in cash on hand and raised just under $300,000 between
July and December last year.
Abercrombie's donors included numerous members of Hawai`i's business and legal communities, including the president of The Gas Company and officials from First Hawaiian Bank and Bank of Hawai`i.
The governor also received thousands of dollars from mainland organizations, including airline and technology companies. Oracle Corp. CEO Larry Ellison gave Abercrombie $5,000. Abercrombie became governor of Hawaii in 2010. He won the election after receiving about $4.5 million in campaign contributions.
