Hilo woman arrested in downtown robbery

A 23-year old Hilo woman has been arrested in connection with Thursday’s reported noon time robbery of a downtown Hilo business. Police were summoned to the corner of Keawe Street and Furneaux Lane, where a 33-year old female employee reported being accosted by a woman who displayed a handgun, demanded money and fled in a white pickup truck with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police used the license plate number to determine the identify and location of the driver and arrested Tia Nohelani Menino, at 12:30 p.m. on Maka`ala Street in the Hilo industrial area. Menino is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
