Motorcyclist killed on Big Island

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) — Big Island police say a 45-year-old Captain Cook man died after the motorcycle he was operating rear-ended a pickup truck. Police say the collision occurred Monday evening on Route 11 south of the 109-mile marker in South Kona while the truck was stopped in traffic to make a left turn onto Seiganji Mission Road. The motorcyclist was taken to Kona Community Hospital where he died. Police say a 35-year-old woman who was driving the truck and her 4-year-old son were not injured.
