Humpback whale flips kayak

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) — Big Island officials say a 60-year-old man was slightly injured when a humpback whale flipped his kayak. KITV-TV reports that fire crews found the kayaker about 100 yards off-shore on Tuesday afternoon as he was signaling for help with his paddle. Officials say a tour boat helped to get the kayaker aboard their vessel. The man was then transferred to a private vessel and returned to shore. The man ended up with a superficial scratch on his arm from the sharp edges of the broken kayak. He did not need medical assistance.
