Fumes from pool heater send two to the hospital

Fumes from a malfunctioning pool heater at a luxury South Kohala home caused two people to lose consciousness late Sunday morning. Fire rescue personnel were summoned to the two story home shortly after 11:00 a.m. to find the pair unresponsive and took them to the hospital. Fire Hazmat crews traced the problem to a mechanical malfunction in the heater’s exhaust system, which was corrected and the residents were allowed to return home.
