Trio charged in Hilo shoplifting

Three men have been arrested and charged with a Tuesday shoplifting incident in the Hilo industrial area that turned violent. Police were summoned to a store at 325 Maka`ala Street shortly before 2:00 p.m. where they were told that the men had taken items without paying for them and attacked an employee when he confronted them outside. 21-year old Michael Thomas, 18-year old Daniel Kapumau and 19-year old Ku Manuia were all charged with fourth-degree theft while Manuia faces an additional charge of second degree robbery.
