Big Dog dead at 65

Hawai`i Island sports fans are mourning the loss of running enthusiast, columnist and community activist Wayne “Big Dog” Joseph. The 65-year old Joseph passed away Tuesday night due to complications from a malignant brain tumor. Joseph coached BIIF cross country and track and field at Pahoa and later at Waiakea for more than 20 years.For many he is best remembered for his longtime column that appeared weekly in the Hawai`i Tribune Herald. Funeral services are pending.
