Man Found Dead in Vehicle on Highway 11

An autopsy is scheduled today for a Hilo man, who was found dead in his vehicle on Highway 11 in Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park on Saturday. A park ranger discovered the lifeless body of 43-year old Steven L. Elliott at 9:34 a.m. in a white 2002 Ford Pickup truck parked facing the Ka‘ū direction near the 35 mile marker. The cause of death is unknown. The investigation is being conducted by the National Park Service.
