A 38-year old Kailua-Kona man makes his first court appearance today after being charged with 10 offenses following last week’s motor vehicle death of his 3-year old son Joel Peter. Pedro Peter was charged Friday evening with manslaughter, operating
a motor vehicle without a license and without no-fault insurance, four counts of failing to provide child restraint and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. Police say the boy apparently fell out of Peter’s pickup truck near the driveway of Matsuyama Food Mart in Kalaoa, and the father, unaware the boy had fallen out, continued up the driveway and ran over him.
