Waimea Schools place on temporary lockdown

Some anxious moments led to a 35-minute lockdown Friday at Waimea Elementary and Middle Schools, which are located on the same property. Police received a reportof a stranger chasing a 10-year old boy on the elementary school campus shortly before 8:00 a.m. and the lockdown was implemented as a precautionary measure. It was later determined that the man was a relative of the boy and that they were playing.
